Larry Stevenson was the founder of Makaha Skateboards and the originator of the kicktail. If could be argued that next to Urethane wheels the kicktail was responsible for more skateboarding progression than almost any other technology. Mr. Stevenson is battling cancer and was not able to make it to the Cooper Design Building in Los Angeles on December 4, 2010 to accept his Skateboarding Hall of Fame induction, however, his son Curtis Stevenson was. This is his acceptance speech for his fathers award.

When we look back it becomes obvious that more than anyone else CR Stecyk created what we all know of as skateboarding. Through his Dogtown stories in Skateboarder Magazine in the 70s he created the mythology that captured the minds of and entire generation. So it was fitting that he was finally officially recognized by the skateboarding industry with an induction to the Skateboarding Hall of Fame at a ceremony held December 4, 2010 in downtown Los Angeles Cooper Design Building
