Hobie Skateboards was an American skateboard company.

Also known as: Hobie Surfboards / Hobie Skateboards / Hobie Cat Company


Hobart Alter began building surfboards in 1950, and opened Hobie Surfboards in 1954.


Several famous surfers surfed for the Hobie Team, including Joey Cabell, Phil Edwards, Corky Carroll, Gary Propper, Mickey Munoz, Joyce Hoffman and Yancy Spencer.


In 1964 Hobart Alter teamed up with the Vita Pakt juice company to create Hobie Skateboards.
